It was a great pleasure to celebrate the iconic scientist of the motor protein field and a great friend at the Retirement Symposium and Celebration honoring Dr. James R. Sellers. Jim has made enduring contributions through his discoveries in the field of motor protein structure and function. Without these discoveries, the new drugs and drug candidates that target myosins would not exist today. Nor can we forget our shared mentor, Andrew Szent-Györgyi, for whom Jim was one of the first PhD students and András is the last to date. We should also mention our joint work, particularly our investigation into the mechanism of action of blebbistatin, the first myosin inhibitor — a paper that remains the most highly cited original research publication for both of us.

Dr. Andras Malnasi-Csizmadia, CSO of PeriFlow, was invited to give a seminar about Capillary No-Reflow and possible medical treatments. Further discussion revealed possible collaborations in studying blood flow dynamics especially in the capillary system of the heart and the brain.

Prof. Andras Malnasi-Csizmadia (CSO, PeriFlow) was invited to give a 90 min.
lecture about the new progress in drug development targeting conventional myosin.
Andras presented the most recent results of the research team focusing on the
structural development of CLN-2501 and its preclinical development on acute
myocardial infarction, acute kidney injury, stroke and cardiorenal syndrome type1.
